Apparently Mr. and Mrs. Kakish have gotten into a bit of a pickle with their finances. Why should this matter to Hyde Park residents? For several reasons.

1) A history of the amount of debt accrued to this extent should signal red flags. The supervisor is the Chief Financial Officer of the town. How can one expect an individual to put a budget together in the amount of several million dollars if they cannot have a handle on their own finances.

2) Exactly what background and screening checks do the committees perform when choosing a candidate. Finding someone who shares the 'same beliefs and philosophies' sounds nice, but then again Ted Bundy appeared to share them too.

3) When one gets admitted to the bar, you must go through a strict screening process in a process that one must meet the standards to the Moral and Ethical Codes. FINANCIAL MISMANAGMENT as well as FRAUDULENT CONDUCT is reasons enough not to be admitted.

4) And in a side note, it was reported to newspapers that Mr. Kakish is an attorney which is a big no-no, because inpersonating an officer of the court is a criminal offense. How many people read these articles and decided to call him and ask for legal advice or respresentation in a legal matter? Whichs leads me to question his competency. If he has a law degree and didn't make attempts to correct the misinformation, he should be aware of possible consequences, which depending on the severity, can range up to felony charges with a prison sentences. The Southern New England School of Law, where he graduated, apparently was so poor in its academic standards that according to a Boston Globe article, the ABA refused to accredit it and is not listed even as a Second Tier school. It also had its offices located above a car wash and as one attorney described it, 'It's like leaving your wife and kids for two years to go to Apex Techinical School four hours away.' As a graduate of this school he is restricted to take the bar exam in three states, being CT, MA and CA. He is ineligble to practice law in the State of New York as per rule 520.5, he must practice law in the state in which he was admitted to the bar for a period of 5 of the 7 years preceding application to the bar exam. Which means in order for Mr. Kakish to even consider being a lawyer in NYS, he would actively have to practice law in CT  for 7 yea. Knowing all of this, why would he want to go all the way to North Dartmouth, MA to go to a non-accredited law school when he could have gone to an accredited school closer, for example CUNY Queens or even in New Jersey?  I'm putting my money that between his grades and LSAT scores, he couldn't get in.
